Kuantum Mekaniğinin Bedelleri ve Bell: Lugano Çalıştayı ve Tim Maudlin’in Sunumu Üzerine Bir Rapor

Abstract

Bu rapor, Lugano’da düzenlenen "Kuantum Mekaniği Üzerine Metafizik ve Epistemolojik Perspektifler" (Metaphysical and Epistemological Perspectives on Quantum Mechanics) çalıştayında fizik felsefesinin önde gelen isimlerinden Tim Maudlin tarafından sunulan argümanları özetlemektedir. Çalışma, kuantum teorisini anlamlandırma sürecinde klasik mantıktan uzay-zamanın temel yapısına kadar feda edilen yedi varsayımı ele almaktadır. Maudlin, bu radikal kabullerin ampirik bilimin dayandığı başlangıç verilerini geçersiz kılarak bir "bilişsel istikrarsızlığa" (cognitive instability) yol açabileceği uyarısında bulunmaktadır. Bu soruna çözüm olarak John Bell’in "yerel var olanlar" (local beables) kavramı üzerinden fenomenleri koruyacak bir ontolojik zemin önerilmektedir. Rapor, modern fiziğin ampirik verilerle tutarlı bir bağ kurabilmesi için ihtiyaç duyduğu teorik gereklilikleri tartışarak sona ermektedir.

The Costs of Quantum Mechanics and Bell: A Report on the Lugano Workshop and Tim Maudlin’s Presentation

Abstract

This report summarizes the arguments presented by philosopher of physics Tim Maudlin at the "Metaphysical and Epistemological Perspectives on Quantum Mechanics" workshop held in Lugano. The presentation examines seven established assumptions, ranging from classical logic to the fundamental structure of space-time, that are frequently abandoned in efforts to make sense of quantum theory. Maudlin warns that such radical shifts may lead to "cognitive instability" by undermining the very empirical data upon which science is built. As a solution, he proposes an ontological framework based on John Bell’s concept of "local beables" to "save the phenomena." The report concludes by discussing the theoretical requirements necessary for modern physics to maintain a consistent connection with empirical evidence.
