Fecundity and development of the bean weevil [<em>Acanthoscelides obtectus </em>(Say) (Col.: Bruchidae)] on different bean seeds <em>{Phaseolus vıılgaris

Abstract

In this study, duration of preoviposition, oviposition, postoviposition, number of daily and total laid eggs, longevity of the female and male adults, eggs hatching periods and ratios, larvael period and death ratio, adult period in pupae+cocoon and death ratio, sex ratio, weight of female and male individuals and the weight losses of bean seeds Phaseolus vıılgaris caused by Acanthoscelides obtectus (Say) (Col.: Bruchidae), were studied on some bean registered varieties such as Yunus 90, Önceler 98, Göynük 98, Şehirali 90, Karacaşehir 90, Akman 98. Relation between the protein, starch and tanen ratios, seed coat thickness, bigness of bean seeds and the development and reproduction of A.obtectus were investigated as well. Studies were carried out in a climatically controlled room which was adjusted to 25±2°C and 50±5 % relative humidity. The results obtained from the studies carried out on the different bean varieties to determine the larvae period of A.obtectus, female and male weights, adult emerging period, longevity of male and female individuals, oviposition period, death ratio of the first instar larvae and the relation between the seed coat thickness and weight losses caused by A.obtectus were shown to be statistically different. A linear correlation was found between the protein ratio of the bean varieties and the larvae period duration between the seed bigness and the first larvae death ratio. The protein rate effected on larvae stage period. When protein rate decreased, larvae stage period has been prolonged. It is obtained the longest larvae stage period with 19.45 days when protein rate was at 23.93%. Also when protein rate was at 20.48%, It was determined the shortest at larvae stage period with 15.03 days. Rate mortality of first stage larvae was the highest at small seed on Karacaşehir 90 variety with 76.36%. No relation was determined between the tanen, starch ratios, the seed coat thickness and the other biological periods of A. obtectus.

Değişik fasulye çeşitlerinde fasulye tohumböceği [<em>Acanthoscelides obtectus </em>(Say) (CoL:Bruchidae)]'nin gelişme ve çoğalması

Öz

Bu araştırmada, Türkiye'de tescilli olarak üretilen Yunus 90, Önceler 98, Göynük 98, Şehirali 90, Karacaşehir 90, Akman 98 fasulye çeşitlerinde Fasulye tohumböceği [Acanthoscelides obtectus (Say)]'nin yumurtlama öncesi, yumurtlama, yumurtlama sonrası süreleri, günlük ve toplam yumurta sayısı, erkek ve dişi bireylerin ömürleri, yumurta açılma süresi ve oranı, larva dönemi süresi ve ölüm oranı, pupa+kokon içindeki ergin süresi ve ölüm oranı, eşey oranı, erkek ve dişi birey ağırlıkları ile fasulye tanelerindeki ağırlık kaybı çalışılmıştır. Fasulye çeşitlerinin protein, nişasta, tanen oranlan, tane kabuğu kalınlığı ve tane iriliği ile A. obtectus'un büyüme, gelişme ve çoğalması arasındaki ilişki araştırılmıştır. Çalışmalar 25±2 °C sıcaklık ve %50±5 orantılı neme ayarlı iklim odasında yürütülmüştür. Fasulye çeşitlerine göre A.obtectus'un larva dönemi süresi, erkek ve dişi ağırlığı, ergin çıkış süresi, erkek ve dişi ömrü, yumurtlama süresi, birinci dönem larva ölüm oranı ve fasulye çeşitlerinin tane kabuğu kalınlığı ve A. obtectus'unfasulye çeşitlerinde oluşturduğu ağırlık kaybı istatistiksel olarak farklı bulunmuştur. Fasulye çeşitlerinin protein oranları ile A.obtectus'un larva dönemi süresi, tane büyüklükleri ile birinci dönem larva ölüm oranı arasında doğrusal bir ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Protein oranı en yüksek çeşit olan Karacaşehir 90 çeşidinde larva dönemi 19.45 gün olmasına karşın, protein oranı %20.48 ile en düşük çeşit olan Yunus 90'da larva dönemi süresi 15.03 gün bulunmuştur. Tane büyüklüğü sınıflandırmasına göre; larva dönemi ölüm oranı küçük taneli olan Karacaşehir 90'da %76.36 ile en yüksek bulunmasına karşın iri taneli çeşit olan Göynük 98'de larva ölüm oranı % 16.92 ile en düşük bulunmuştur. Fasulye çeşitlerinin tanen, nişasta oranları ve tane kabuğu kalınlığı ile A.obtectus'un diğer biyolojik dönemleri arasında bir ilişki tespit edilememiştir.
