Investigations on fecundity of cereal bug [<em>Aelia rostrata </em>Boh.(Het.: Pentatomidae)] on some wheat and barley varieties.
Abstract
In this study, development (preoviposition, oviposition, postoviposition, fecundity, fertility and sex ratio) of cereal bug (Aelia rostrata Boh.) was investigated during 1998-1999 in field conditions in Central Anatolia region of Türkiye. Wheat varieties; Bezostoya 1, Kunduru 1149, Gerek 79 and barley varieties; Tokak 157 and Yesevi 93 were used in the research. Despite the fact that no statistical difference were found in databases obtained, it was concluded that wheat was more suitable than barley serving as food for cereal bug. Also, it was observed that Gerek 79 was the most favorable food that cereal bug prefers among wheat varieties.
