The adult population dynamics of the European grapevine moth [<em>Lobesia botrana</em> Den.&Schiff. (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)] in the vineyards in Tarsus (Mersin-Turkey)
Abstract
This study was carried out in Tarsus (Mersin) environs that early table grape growing is common, in 2008-2009. In this study, it was aimed to determine the European grapevine moth [Lobesia botrana Den.&Schiff. (Lep.: Tortricidae)]'s control based some criteria such as the first adult emergence time, adult population fluctuations, the highest population periods and the time of adults activation in nature with generation number.
In conclusion, it was determined that the first emergence of L. botrana adults was between the end of February and early March, the pest has four peaks a year (April, May-June, July-August, September). But, the last two peaks occurred after harvest were not very obvious due to low population density. In addition, it was observed that the first peak coincided with flowering period (April, 1. generation) whereas the second one occured during unripe berry and beginning of loss of green color (May-June, 2. generation). While the adult flights ended between the end of September and the first half of October, L. botrana was active for seven months and produced four generations per year.Keywords
