Using possibilities of diatomaceous earth against stored paddy rice pest the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum Herbst

Abstract

In this study, the activity of diatomaceous earth formulation which name is DEA-P was investigated against stored rice pest the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae).  Studies were carried out under the laboratory conditions at 30 °C, 60±5% relative humidity on paddy rice treated with diatomaceous earth in Directorate of Plant Protection Central Research Institute-Ankara in 2014. For this purpose, different doses of diatomaceous earth were mixed with paddy rice. The population of T. castaneum in paddy rice was significantly reduced after treatment with DEA-P. In the studies, 100% mortality of T. castaneum is provided from the day of 21, at 150 ppm DEA-P/kg paddy rice and higher doses of DEA-P.

Depolanmış çeltikte zararlı Tribolium castaneum (Herbst)’un mücadelesinde diyatom toprağının kullanım olanakları

Abstract

Bu çalışmada depolanmış çeltikte zararlı Un biti[Tribolium castaneum Herbst (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)]’nin mücadelesinde DEA-P isimli diyatom toprağı formülasyonunun etkinliği araştırılmıştır. Çalışmalar 2014 yılında Zirai Mücadele Merkez Araştırma Enstitüsü Entomoloji Laboratuarı/Ankara’da gerçekleştirilmiş olup, 30 oC sıcaklıkta, %60±5 orantılı nem koşullarında diyatom toprağı ile muamele edilmiş çeltik üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Bu amaçla depolanmış çeltikte farklı dozlarda, diyatom toprağı ürüne karıştırılmıştır. Çeltiğin diyatom toprağı ile muamele edilmesinden sonra T. castaneum popülasyonunda kayda değer bir düşüş olmuştur. Yapılan çalışmalarda %100 ölüm 150 ppm DEA-P/kg çeltik ve üstü dozlarda 21. günden itibaren sağlanmıştır.
