Pathogenicity of Fusarium Species Isolated from Strawberry Plants in Erzurum Province

Year 2014, Volume: 54 Issue: 3, - , 16.06.2016

Abstract

This study was performed to determine Fusarium species caused wilt disease on strawberry plants in Erzurum province between 2005 and 2007. Plant samples showing wilt symptoms were collected from strawberry growing areas in August and September. At the end of the isolation studies, 68 isolates of Fusarium spp. were obtained from roots, crowns and/or petioles of strawberry plants. Among these isolates, Fusarium acuminatum, Fusarium equiseti, Fusarium oxysporum and Fusarium solani were recorded in the rate of 4.4 %, 30.9 %, 44.1 % and 20.6 %, respectively. Pathogenicity of Fusarium isolates was determined on strawberry plants (cv. Fern) by the root-dip method. According to the results of pathogenicity test, F. oxysporum isolates were significantly more virulent than F. acuminatum, F. equiseti and F. solani.Root length, fresh and dry weight of strawberry plants inoculated by Fusarium species were found significantly lower than those in the control plants.

Erzurum İlinde Çilek Bitkilerinden İzole Edilen Fusarium Türlerinin Patojeniteleri

Year 2014, Volume: 54 Issue: 3, - , 16.06.2016
