Determination of sexual maturation time and effects of temperature on fecundity for the Sunn pest adults collected from hibernating sites.

Abstract

In this study, the duration of reaching sexual maturity and the effects of the temperature on the fecundity of the Sunn pest were studied. For this aim, 100 sunn pest collected every month were cultured on wheat plants and their mating statuses were observed from the end of June, when new generation sunn pest go to hibernating sites completely, to March At the end of this study, it was determined that males and females reach the sexual maturity and deposit eggs towards the middle of December. Four different temperatures (18, 22, 26 and 30) were tested to determine the effect of temperatures on the fecundity of the Sunn pest. According to the obtained results, temperature was determined to be an important factor on the fecundity and the highest fecundity of the Sunn pest was obtained from the female adults reared under 26ºC temperature (92.25 eggs/females). While 73.5 eggs/female was obtained from the females reared under 18ºC temperature, 76.25 eggs/female was established at the female adults reared under 22ºC temperature. The lowest fecundity capacity was determined as 62.5 eggs/female at 30 ºC temperature.

Kışlaktan toplanan süne erginlerinde cinsel olgunluğa ulaşma zamanının ve sıcaklığın süne yumurta verimine etkisinin belirlenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, 2005 ve 2006 yıllarında sünenin cinsel olgunluğa ulaşma zamanı ve sıcaklığın süne yumurta verimi üzerinde etkileri araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla, yeni nesil ergin sünelerin kışlağa tamamen çekildiği haziran ayı sonlarından mart ayına kadar her ay 100 süne toplanarak buğday bitkisi ile kültüre alınmış ve çiftleşme durumları gözlenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda süne erkek ve dişi bireylerinin aralık ortalarına doğru cinsel olgunluğa gelerek çiftleştikleri ve dişilerin yumurta verdikleri saptanmıştır. Sıcaklığın süne yumurta veriminde etkilerinin belirlenmesi için dört (18, 22, 26, 30) farklı sıcaklık denenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, sıcaklığın önemli bir faktör olduğu ve en yüksek yumurta veriminin 26ºC'de kültüre alınan erginlerde elde edildiği tespit edilmiştir (92.25 adet/dişi ). 18ºC de kültüre alınan bireylerde 73.5 yumurta/dişi elde edilirken, 22ºC de kültüre alınanlarda 76.25 yumurta/dişi elde edildiği saptanmıştır. En düşük yumurta verimi 30ºC de kültüre alınan bireylerde (62.5 yumurta/dişi) bulunmuştur.
