Ceviz bahçelerinde Elma içkurdu [(<em>Cydia pomonella</em> L.) (Lep.: Tortricidae)] ile mücadelede alternatif yöntemlerin etkinliğinin değerlendirilmesi

Year 2015, Volume: 55 Issue: 4, 0 - 0, 30.12.2015

Abstract

Evaluation of the efficacy of alternative methods for control of codling moth [(<em>Cydia pomonella </em>L.) (Lep.: Tortricidae] in walnut orchards

Year 2015, Volume: 55 Issue: 4, 0 - 0, 30.12.2015

Abstract

This study was conducted in two different walnut orchards containing Fernor and Chandler cultivars in Bursa in 2012 and 2013. Each orchard was divided into seven 0.2 ha blocks to evaluate the efficacy of alternative methods for integrated control of codling moth (Cydia pomonella L.). These blocks consisted of the following treatments; Granulovirus alone, pheromone dispenser alone, granulovirus + pheromone dispenser, pheromone dispenser + insecticide, full-rate kaolin + insecticide, half-rate kaolin + insecticide, and insecticide control. Pheromone dispensers were applied once at the density of 1000/ha in mid-May. A total of six granulovirus applications, three each for first and second generation larvae, were made at a rate of 100 ml/ha. Following a single insecticide application, full and half-rate kaolin was sprayed at a rate of 5 and 2.5 kg/100 l water three times a year, respectively. Two pheromone traps were deployed in each block for weekly monitoring of adult activity. First adults were caught in traps on May 23 and 22 corresponding to 275.5 and 292.8 degree-days from January 1 in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Among treatments, the highest number of moths was caught in the granulovirus blocks. At harvest, the percentage of damaged walnuts by larvae were 4.9, 1.3, 3.8, 1.3, 1.9, 1.2 and 1.5% in the granulovirus, pheromone dispenser, granulovirus + pheromone dispenser, pheromone dispenser + insecticide, insecticide + full-rate kaolin, half-rate kaolin + insecticide, and insecticide alone blocks, respectively. Based on these results, the potential use of alternative methods in integrated control for walnuts is discussed.
