Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to evaluate ‘mathematic anxiety level’ of the student of vocational school in according to the some variables. For this purpose, “Mathematic Anxiety Scale” and “Personal Information Form”, which are developed as a data collection tool by Erol (1989) and researcher, respectively, have been used. The total of 246 students, 49 girls and 197 males, who attend to the different programs of Tatvan Vocational School, Bitlis Eren University in spring semester of 2012-2013 academic year joined to this research. The independent sample t-test and one-way variance analysis have been used in the analyzing of obtained data. According to the results of analyses, it was detected that the significant differences are available by the programs the students are registered and the school students were graduated, while the point averages of anxiety scale concerned to the mathematic do not significant differences by gender statistically. It was found out that the anxieties of students in the computer programming department are more than the students who attends to the other departments. In the same way, it was detected that the students graduated from vocational high school have more the point averages of anxiety scale concerned to the mathematic than the students graduated from other high schools. Meslek Yüksekokulu Öğrencilerinin Matematik Kaygı Düzeylerinin Bazı Değişkenler Açısından İncelenmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırmada, Meslek Yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin matematik kaygı düzeylerinin bazı değişkenler açısından incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla veri toplama aracı olarak Erol(1989) tarafından geliştirilen “Matematik Kaygısı Ölçeği” ve araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen kişisel bilgi formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya 2012-2013 eğitim-öğretim yılının bahar döneminde, Bitlis Eren Üniversitesi, Tatvan Meslek Yüksekokulu’nun farklı programlarında öğrenim gören 49 kız, 197 erkek olmak üzere toplam 246 öğrenci katılmıştır. Toplanan verilerin analizinde tek yönlü varyans analizi ve bağımsız örneklem t testi kullanılmıştır. Analiz sonuçlarına göre; matematiğe ilişkin kaygı ölçek puan ortalamaları cinsiyete göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık göstermezken, matematik kaygı ölçek puan ortalamaları öğrencilerin kayıtlı oldukları program ve mezun oldukları lise türüne göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir şekilde farklılık gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. Bilgisayar programcılığı bölümündeki öğrencilerin kaygıları diğer bölüm öğrencilerine göre daha fazla olduğu, aynı şekilde meslek lisesi mezunu öğrencilerin matematiğe ilişkin kaygı ölçek puan ortalamaları diğer liselerden mezun olan öğrencilere göre daha fazla olduğu görülmüştür. Ancak genel olarak öğrencilerin matematik kaygı ölçek puan ortalamaları “Normal” düzeyde olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.
