Abstract

ÖZET

Os sacrum sakral, lumbosakral ve sakroiliak şekil bozuklukları veya yaralanmalarının tedavisinde fu¨zyon

ve stabilizasyon alanına dahil edilen o¨nemli bir kemiktir. Bu çalışmada kuru os sacrum o¨rnekleri u¨zerinde

detaylı morfometrik o¨lçu¨mler yapılması amaçlandı. Çalışma Erciyes Üniversitesi Anatomi Anabilim dalında

bulunan 47 sacrum ve Sivas Cumhuriyet Üniversitesi Anatomi Anabilim dalından gelen 5 adet os sacrum

o¨rnekleri u¨zerinde 0.01 milimetre (mm) duyarlılıgˆındaki dijital kumpas kullanılarak yapıldı. Kuru kemik

o¨rneklerinde yaş ve cinsiyet ayırımı yapılmadı. Os sacrum kemiği üzerinde hiatus sacralis uzunluğu, cornu

sacraleler arası mesafe gibi 10 adet parametrede ölçümler yapıldı. Os sacrum’un normal anatomik yapısının

ve morfometrik degˆerlerinin iyi bilinmesi, bu bo¨lgeye uygulanan operasyonlar sırasında muhtemel komplikasyonları

o¨nleyebilir. Bu çalışmanın os sacrum’a yo¨nelik cerrahi yaklaşımlarda cerrahlar ve klinisyenlere yararlı

olacagˆını düşünmekteyiz. Ayrıca epidural kaudal anestezinin inguinal, ürogenital, rektal bölgeye yapılan

operasyonlarda uygulamasından ve komplikasyonların azaltılmasında kullanılan yöntem olmasından dolayı

bu çalışmanın anatomik rehber olacağı kanaatindeyiz.

ABSTRACT

Os sacrum sacral is an important bone included in the fusion and stabilization area in the treatment of the

lumbosacral and sacroiliac shape disorders. In this study, the purpose was to make detailed morphometric

measurements on os sacrum samples.

The study was conducted on the 5 os sacrum samples brought from Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Anatomy

Department, and on 47 sacrum samples that were brought from Erciyes University Anatomy Department

by using a digital compass with 0.01-millimeter (mm) sensitivity. Age and gender discriminations were not

made on the dry bone samples. Ten different measurements were performed on the os sacrum like the

length of the hiatus sacralis and the distance between cornu sacrales. The length of the hiatus sacralis was

measured as 19,84±9,32 mm in average. The minimum measurement value was determined as 6,85 and

the maximum measurement value was determined as 48,80 mm. The distance between cornu sacrales was

determined to be 12,63±3,02 mm in average. The distance between the foramina sacralia posteriora (S2)

height and the apex of the hiatus sacralis was found to be 21,69±6,86 mm. The width of the canalis sacralis

was measured as 20,85±3,62 mm in average.

Knowing the normal anatomic structure and morphometric values of the os sacrum well may avoid possible

complications that may occur during surgeries in this area. We believe that this study will be useful for

surgeons in surgical approaches to os sacrum. In addition, we also believe that the present study will be an

anatomic guide for surgeons because the caudal anesthesia is applied in operations in inguinal, urogenital

and rectal areas, and it is the method used to reduce the complications.
