PREFERING IMAGE TO REALITY: The Movie “Time to Love” as an Example of Schizoid Dilemma

Abstract

Films have an important place in understanding and making sense of life, as they are reflections or representations of reality. The aim of this study is to analyze the movie “Time to Love”, which may represent a case that can be shown as an example of schizoid personality disorder defined by James M asterson. In this context, first of all, schizoid self disorder, which was defined by Masterson in his theory of self disorders, is explained. Then, by giving a summary of the movie “Time to Love” directed by Metin Erksan, the personality structure of the movie’s hero Halil and his dilem- mas is evaluated within the framework of the plot of the movie.

İmgeyi Gerçekliğe Tercih Etmek Şizoid Dilemma Örneği Olarak " Sevmek Zamanı" Adlı Film

Abstract

Filmler gerçekliğin birer yansıması veya temsili olmaları itibariyle yaşamı anlamada ve anlamlandırmada önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bu çalışmanın amacı James Masterson’un tanımladığı kişilik bozukluklarından biri olan şizoid kişilik bozukluğuna örnek gösterilebilecek bir vakayı temsil eden “Sevmek Zamanı” filminin analizi yapmaktır. Bu bağlamda öncelikle Masterson’un kendilik bozuklukları kuramında tanımladığı Şizoid kendilik bozukluğu anlatılmıştır. Daha sonra yönetmenliğini Metin Erksan’ın yaptığı “Sevmek Zamanı” filminin özeti verilerek filmin kahramanı Halil’in kişilik yapısı ve Şizoid kişilik özelliklerinden olan dilemmaları, filmin olay örgüsü ve Masterson’un tanımladığı şizoid kişilik bozukluğu çerçevesinde değerlendirilmiştir.
