Alman Gençlik Dairesi (Jugendamt) ve Koruma Altına Alınan Türk Kökenli Çocuklar

Abstract

This article endeavours to elaborate on the problems ensuing from the implementation of the German Youth Office (Jugendamt) child salvation (welfare) measures. The article evaluates the essence of child welfare measures by focusing on the immigrant families in Germany. In order to provide differing perspectives, the article also looks at varying implementations in France, Britain and Turkey. In the light of examples drawn from these countries, the article attempts to analyse the Jugendamt policies by explaining the relevant cases as well as its history and structure. The main finding of the article is that currently, the inadequate legal regulations concerning the German Youth Office leads to a mistreatment of the children of immigrant families, especially those of Turkish origin in Germany. The article concludes with a suggestion that Turkey can contribute positively to the solution of the problem, especially one facing families of Turkish-origin.
