Eğitim Harcamalarının Ekonomik Büyümeye Etkisi: Panel Veri Analizi

Abstract

Bu çalışma, üst gelir grubundaki 30 Avrupa ülkesine ait 2000–2021 dönemi verileri kullanılarak kamu eğitim harcamalarının ekonomik büyüme üzerindeki etkisini panel very yöntemiyle incelemektedir. Modelde bağımlı değişken olarak reel GSYH büyüme oranı, bağımsız değişkenler olarak ise sabit sermaye yatırımı büyüme oranı, mal ve hizmet ihracatı büyüme oranı ve kamu eğitim harcamalarının GSYH’ye oranı kullanılmıştır. Ampirik analiz sonuçları, kamu eğitim harcamalarının ekonomik büyüme üzerinde pozitif ve istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir etkiye sahip olduğunu göstermektedir. Aynı şekilde sabit sermaye yatırımları ve ihracatın da büyümeyi destekleyici etkileri anlamlı bulunmuştur. Elde edilen bulgular, eğitim harcamalarının yalnızca sosyal kalkınma açısından değil, aynı zamanda ekonomik büyüme sürecinin itici bir gücü olarak değerlendirilmesi gerektiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Bu bağlamda, özellikle gelişmiş ekonomilerde kamu eğitim harcamalarının artırılması, sürdürülebilir büyüme stratejileri açısından önemli bir politika aracı olarak öne çıkmaktadır.

The Impact of Education Expenditures on Economic Growth: A Panel Data Analysis

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of public education expenditures on economic growth using panel data from 30 high-income European countries over the period 2000–2021. The model employs real GDP growth as the dependent variable, while the independent variables include gross fixed capital formation growth, export growth, and the ratio of public education spending to GDP. The empirical findings reveal that education expenditures have a statistically significant and positive effect on economic growth. Likewise, both capital formation and exports exhibit growth-enhancing effects with high statistical significance. These results underscore the economic importance of human capital investments beyond their social implications. Public spending on education emerges as a key driver of sustainable growth, especially in developed economies. Therefore, the findings suggest that increasing education investments should be considered a strategic policy tool for fostering long-term economic performance.
