Çevresel Kuznets Hipotezinin Türkiye İçin Geçerliliğinin Ampirik Analizi: 1960-2014 Dönemi ARDL Sınır Testi Yaklaşımı

Abstract

Çevre kirliliği ile ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişki iktisat literatüründe önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bu çalışmada, 1960-2014 dönemi için Çevresel Kuznets Eğrisi hipotezi Türkiye için araştırılmıştır. ARDL Sınır Testi ile değişkenler arasındaki eşbütünleşme ilişkisinin analizi yapılmıştır. Karbondioksit emisyonları ile ekonomik büyüme ve enerji tüketimi arasında pozitif yönlü ilişkisinin varlığı ortaya konmuştur. Bu bağlamda, Türkiye’de 1960-2014 dönemi için Çevresel Kuznets Eğrisi hipotezini destekler sonuca ulaşılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, Türkiye’de çevre kirliliğinin azaltılarak sürdürülebilir büyümenin sağlanması için yenilenebilir enerji kaynaklarına yönelik yasal düzenlemelerin önemi vurgulanmıştır.

An Empirical Analysis on the Validity of Environmental Kuznets Curve Hypothesis in Turkey: ARDL Bounds Test Approach for the Period of 1960-2014

Abstract

The relationship between environmental pollution and economic growth has an important place in the economic literature. In this study, the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis is investigated in for the period of 1960-2014 in Turkey.  ARDL Bounds Test was used to analyze the cointegration relationship between of variables. The positive correlation between carbon dioxide emissions and economic growth and energy consumption has been demonstrated. In this context the conclusion supporting the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis was reached for the period of 1960-2014 in Turkey.  As a result, the importance of legislation for renewable energy sources are highlighted in order to ensure sustainable growth by reducing the environmental pollution in Turkey.
