SPOR MÜSABAKALARINDA SALDIRGANLIK: PARA ALGISININ ROLÜ

Abstract

Kişilerin uyumsuz veya etik olmayan davranışlar meydana getirebilmeleri noktasında para algılarının oynadığı anlamlı rol bilinmektedir. Bünyesinde saldırganlık barındıran davranışların ise toplum tarafından zaman zaman etik dışı ve uyumsuz olarak etiketlenebildiği göz önünde bulundurulduğunda, ilgili değişkenler arasında anlamlı bir ilişkinin varlığını beklemek mümkün hale gelmektedir. Buradan hareketle bu araştırma, sporcuların para algıları ile spordaki saldırganlık ve öfke düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkinin detaylı bir şekilde analiz edilmesi amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. İlişkisel tarama modeli kullanılarak yürütülen bu çalışmanın örneklem grubu aktif lisanslı sporcu olan 329 üniversite öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın ana amacı doğrultusunda değişkenler arasındaki potansiyel ilişkinin incelenebilmesi ve yapısal eşitlik modellemesi çerçevesinde Pearson İlişki testleri ve yol analizleri uygulanmıştır. Bulgular, sporcuların para algıları ile tüm değişkenler arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olduğunu göstermektedir. Ayrıca para algısının değişkenler üzerinde anlamlı bir yordayıcı olduğu saptanırken, fiziksel saldırganlığa ilişkin toplam varyansın %54’ünü, sporda saldırganlığa ilişkin toplam varyansın %78’ini ve sporda öfkeye ilişkin toplam varyansın %59’unu açıkladığı tespit edilmiştir. Dolayısıyla, bu çalışmanın bulgularının ışığında sporcuların para algılarının sergiledikleri davranışlar üzerinde etkili olduğunu ve paraya yükledikleri anlam ve değerin yüksek olmasının daha fazla öfke duygusu deneyimlemelerine ya da daha fazla saldırgan davranışlar sergilemelerine yol açtığını söyleyebiliriz.

AGGRESSION IN SPORT COMPETITIONS: THE ROLE OF MONEY PERCEPTION

Abstract

The significant role of individuals’ perception of money on their unethic and inappropriate behavior is known. When it is considered that behaviors including aggression can sometimes be labeled as unethical and incompatible by society, it is possible to expect an existence of a significant relationship between money perception and aggression. Based on this expectation, this research is conducted on the purpose of analyzing the relationship between athletes’ perception of money and their aggression and anger in sports. The sample group of this study, which was conducted by means of corelational survey method, was composed of 329 university students who also were active licensed athletes. In accordance with the main purpose of the research to analyse the potantial relationships between the variables and within the framework of structural equation modelling pearson correlational tests and path analysis were conducted. Findings revealed significant relationship between athletes’ money perception and all the other variables. Additionally, while money perception was identified as a significcant predictor variable, results stated that it explained the 54% of the total variance of physical aggression, 78 % of the total variancce of aggression in sport and 59% of the total variance of anger in sport. Therefore, in the light of the findings of this study, it can be concluded that the athletes’ perception of money is effective on their behaviors, the high value and meaning they attach to money leads them to experience more anger or may result in performing much more aggressive behaviors.
