Tailoring CdO Thin Films: Effects of Fe and Ni Dual Doping on Structure and Optical Properties

Abstract

This study used the electrodeposition approach to cover ITO substrates with CdO thin films with pure and Fe–Ni dual-doped in varying volume ratios (1% and 1%, respectively). The structural, optical, and morphological characteristics of pure CdO films covered with Fe and Ni dual doping were examined. XRD measurements were used to analyze the structural characteristics and it was found that Fe and Ni dual-doped CdO films changed the crystal size and damaged the CdO crystal structure. Optical measurements revealed that the use of a different doping element altered the optical band gap. Morphological measurements reveal that the electronegativities and ionic radii of the dopant ions account for the variations in morphological traits.
