The Effect of Nursing Students' Career Choice on Professional Behavior

Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between nursing students’ choice of profession and professional behavior. The study’s sample, which is a cross-sectional study, consisted of 349 nursing students. Personal Information Forms, Nursing Students Professional Behavior Scale and Vocational Choice Scale in Nursing were used to collect data. Percentage, standard deviation, mean, Pearson’s correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression analysis were used in the evaluation of the data. The sub-dimensions of the Vocational Choice Scale in Nursing, gender and class explained 10% of the variance of the professional behaviors of nursing students. While there is a significant relationship between the professional suitability sub-dimension of the Vocational Choice Scale in Nursing and the Nursing Students Professional Behavior Scale (p <0.05), there is no significant relationship between the vital reasons sub-dimension (p>0.05). With this research, It is seen that there is a relationship between career choice and professional behavior.

Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin Meslek Seçiminin Profesyonel Davranışa Etkisi

Abstract

Çalışmada hemşirelik öğrencilerinin meslek seçimi ile profesyonel davranış arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Kesitsel bir çalışma olan araştırmanın örneklemini, 349 hemşirelik öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Veriler Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinde Profesyonel Davranış Ölçeği, Hemşirelikte Meslek Seçimi Ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirmesinde yüzde, standart sapma, ortalama, pearson korelasyon katsayısı ve çoklu doğrusal regresyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Hemşirelikte Meslek Seçimi Ölçeği alt boyutları, cinsiyet ve sınıf hemşirelik öğrencilerinin profesyonel davranışlarının %10 varyansını açıklamıştır. Hemşirelikte Meslek Seçimi Ölçeği mesleki uygunluk alt boyutu ile Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinde Profesyonel Davranış Ölçeği puanları arasında anlamlı ilişki var iken (p <0.05), yaşamsal nedenler alt boyutu arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmamıştır (p>0.05). Bu çalışma ile meslek seçimi ve profesyonel davranış arasında bir ilişki olduğu saptanmıştır.
