What is Functional Medicine?

Abstract

Functional medicine is a new medical perspective based on system biology that first became popular in the United States in the early 2000s. While acknowledging the relieving effect of suppression of symptoms for the patient in the acute phase, it investigates the underlying causes of the diseases and seeks to correct them; more importantly, it draws a protective medical framework by pointing out lifestyle factors that pave the way for these diseases. It is a principle to involve the people in the planning to lead them to stay healthy or regain their health and to provide the patient physician relations with a healing partnership rather than a patronage relationship. With the holistic perspective it provides in the prevention and treatment of chronic degenerative diseases that are increasing day by day, it is a medical approach to ease the heavy financial burden that health financing models have difficulty to overcome.

Fonksiyonel Tıp Nedir?

Abstract

Fonksiyonel tıp, ilk kez ABD’de 2000’li yılların başında popülerleşmeye başlayan sistem biyolojileri temelli yeni bir tıbbi bakış açısıdır. Semptomların baskılanmasının hasta için akut dönemdeki rahatlatıcı etkisini kabul etmekle birlikte, hastalıkların derininde yatan sebeplerini araştırır ve düzeltilebilmesini sağlamaya çalışır; daha da önemlisi bu hastalıklara zemin hazırlayan yaşam stili faktörlerine işaret ederek koruyucu tıbbi bir çerçeve de çizer. Kişileri, sağlıklı kalmaları veya sağlıklarını tekrar kazanmalarına götürecek planlamaların yapılmasında işin içerisine katmaya ve hasta hekim ilişkilerine bir patronaj ilişkisinden çok iyileştirici ortaklık zemini kazandırmayı ilke edinir. Gün geçtikçe artmakta olan kronik dejeneratif hastalıkların önlenmesi ve tedavisinde sağladığı bütüncül bakış açısıyla sağlık finansman modellerinin altından kalkmakta zorlandığı ağır mali yükü hafifletmeye aday bir tıbbi yaklaşım tarzıdır.
