Teacher Candidates' Opinions about the Fine Art Education Department

Abstract

In this research, it was aimed to acquire perception of surveyed social, applied science and fine art departments’ students about the Fine Art Education Department’s education activities. Total number of students (pre-service teachers) participated was 293 in this research. Results have been evaluated here by using qualitative research method. Participants were asked to fill in the blank spaces in the following statement;  “Fine art department looks like: ………, because ……….”. Surveyed participants had fulfilled the spaces according to their knowledge and feelings during the given survey time. When the replies in this survey had been classified, 10 different categories were realized. It was observed that surveyed students frequently pointed that Fine Art Department surplus their students’ creativity. According to them, Fine Art Department students’ have also been taught “how they could reflect their feelings”. The survey showed also that, the statements like; “Fine Art Department is a easy department”, “Being student is there is fun”, “significance of Fine Art Department is lower with respect to others” are rarely appeared, (especially pointed) in their survey sheets.
