Türkiye’de Yabancı Dil Öğretimi: İlköğretim Yabancı Dil Programı

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’de ilköğretim düzeyinde yabancı dil öğretimi konusunda belirlenen eğitim politikalarını ve özellikle halen uygulanmakta olan eğitim programını, ikinci dil edinimi alanında yapılan çalışmaların ışığında incelemektir. Makalede, öncelikle ilköğretimde yabancı dil öğretiminin temel özellikleri sunulacak ve ardından 1997 yılında yürürlüğe giren ‘sekiz yıllık kesintisiz eğitim reformu’ kapsamında, ilköğretim 4.sınıflar için belirlenen eğitim programı incelenecektir. İkinci dil edinimi alanında gerek teorik gerekse sınıf içi uygulamalara dayalı araştırmalar incelendiğinde, halen kullanılmakta olan eğitim programının bu alanda yapılan çalışmaların bulguları temel alınarak hazırlanmadığı görülmektedir. Bu ise, programın teorik ve pratik yönlerini tartışmaya açmıştır. Bu makalenin amacı, ilköğretim okulu yabancı dil eğitim programını teorik, öğretim yöntemleri, hedeflenen dil düzeyi ve ölçme-değerlendirme gibi açılardan incelemektir.
