Üniversite Öğrencilerinde Yalnızlığın Duygusal Öz-Yeterlik ve Yaşam Doyumu Açısından İncelenmesi

Year 2024, Volume: 11 Issue: 2, 104 - 116, 31.07.2024

Abstract

Investigation of Loneliness in University Students in terms of Emotional Self-Efficacy and Life Satisfaction

Year 2024, Volume: 11 Issue: 2, 104 - 116, 31.07.2024

Abstract

The aim of current study is to examine the mediating role of life satisfaction in relationship between emotional self-efficacy and loneliness. Participants consisted of 388 university students. Data were collected through Emotional Self-Efficacy Scale, Life Satisfaction Scale, UCLA Loneliness Scale and a demographic information form. In the analysis, descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, and regression-based bootstrapping techniques were used. Findings demonstrated that emotional self-efficacy, which consists of the perceiving, using, understanding, and managing emotions sub-dimensions, was significantly and positively correlated with life satisfaction and negatively correlated with loneliness. It was found that there was a statistically significant and negative correlation between life satisfaction and loneliness. The results of mediating analysis revealed that life satisfaction had a partial mediating role in relationship between emotional self-efficacy and loneliness. The university students, who are confident about their abilities in perceiving, using, understanding, and managing emotions, are satisfied with their life more, and high life satisfaction lead to a decrease in loneliness.
