Abstract

Bu makalede Derek Jarman‟ın Caravaggio (1986) filmi göstergelerarası çeviri ve aynı
zamanda uyarlama örneği olarak ele alınır. Göstergelerarası çeviri, farklı gösterge dizgelerini
birbirine çevirmek yoluyla anlam üretme veya en basit haliyle bir metnin veya sanat dalının
(gösterge dizgesinin) kendine özgü dilini bir başka sanat dilinde (gösterge dizgesinde) yeniden
kurma olarak tanımlanabilir. Bu çalışmada, Derek Jarman‟ın filmi, on yedinci yüzyılda yaşamış
İtalyan ressam Caravaggio‟nun „yaşam metni‟ nin sinema dilinde yeniden yapılandırılmış
olması nedeniyle bir çeviri metin ve aynı zamanda uyarlama olarak irdelenir. Ancak, yaşam
metninin öznesi ressam olduğu için filme bir üçüncü dil olan resim dili de girmiştir.
Göstergelerarası/ sanatlararası ilişkide resim, sinema ve biyografi sanatlarının kendilerine özgü
dillerinin taşıdığı anlamların kesiştiği noktada ortaya çıkan bu film, her üç dilin ve anlam
evrenlerinin kaynaşmasından oluşmuş hibrid bir yapıdadır ve yeni anlamlar üretir.
