In the compact limestones, which outcrop in the vicinities of İçerenköy and Küçükyalı villages, 10 km to the east of Bosphorus, some Conodont and Ostracod varieties were observed, and in the conformably overlying nodular limestones the presence of Conodont varieties of Famennina were found. On the other hand, in the cherts, which also conformably overly these nodular limestones, some Radiolarians of Lower Visean were seen. Thus, these beds, known as Middle Devonian, were proven to belong to Upper Devonian and Lower Carboniferous.
