Abstract
The area of this report is part of a structural basin situated south of Mianeh in which a thick section of Cenozoic deposits are preserved, whereas in most of the surrounding areas these deposits have been removed by erosion. In the vicinity of this basin, oldest rocks consist of coal-bearing terrestrial beds of Liassic age. Of the Cenozoic rocks the oldest are Eocene-Oligocene Volcanic complex. Over the volcanics and separated from them by an unconformity there are about 3600 meters of sedimentary deposits. The majör elements of this thick section consist of 290 meters of limestone of Upper Oligocene and Lower Miocene age, about 1360 meters of evaporite group of Lovver and Middle Miocene, and 1800 meters of continental Clastic red beds of Upper Miocene age. Over post-Miocene surface of erosion are deposited lacustro-terrestrial beds of Pliocene age. The majör structure of the area consists of an anticline of about 50 kilometers long with a NW-SE trend in which Miocene evaporite beds are exposed at its crest. There are several faults of small magnitude within Miocene formations.

Abstract
Bu raporda, Mianeh'in güneyinde bulunan ve Senozoik yatakların kalın bir kesit halinde hâlâ mevcut olduğu strüktürel havza ele alınmıştır. Havzayı çevreliyen bölgedeki yataklar erozyon sebebiyle kaybolmuşlardır. Havza civarındaki eski kayaçlar ise Liasik devre ait kömürlü karasal yatakları ihtiva ederler. Senozoik kayaçlardan en yaşlısı Eosen-Oligosen volkanik kompleksidir. Volkaniklerin üzerinde, bunlardan bir diskordansla ayrılan 3600 m kalınlıkta tortul kayaçlar vardır. Bu kalın kesit, Üst Oligosen ve Alt Miosen devirlerine ait 290 m kalınlıkta kalker, Alt ve Orta Miosene ait, yaklaşık olarak 1360 m kalınlıkta evaporit grupu ve Üst Miosen devrine ait 1800 m kalınlıkta karasal, kırmızı klastik yataklardan meydana gelmiştir. Erozyonun Miosen sonrası yüzeyinde Pliosen devrine ait lâküstr-karasal yataklar bulunmaktadır. Bu bölgenin belli başlı strüktürü NW-SE yönünde 50 km uzanan bir antiklinalden ibarettir. Bu antiklinalin zirve kısmında Miosene ait evaporit yatakları vardır. Miosen formasyonlarının içinde birçok küçük fay bulunmaktadır.
