An upper premolar tooth (P4
) beionging to Hispanotherium genus has been found in 1974
in the lacustrine Sediments of Upper Miocene age,1
near Yeni Eskihisar, Yatağan County, Muğla Province. This
new species of the genus—of which up to date only one species is known from the Iberian Peninsula and one
from Turkey—was named Hispanotherium alpani n. sp. by the author of the present paper.
Muğla-Yatağan-Yeni Eskihisar yakın dolaylarındaki Üst Miyoseni yaşındaki gölsel çökellerinde
1974 yılında bulunan bir üst ön azıdişi (P4
), Hispanotherium cinsine aittir. Bugüne dek İber yarımadası ve Türkiye'de
birer türle bilinen bu cinsin yeni türüne Hispanotherium alpani n. sp. adı verildi.
