Öz

İnceleme alanı Gelibolu yarımadası Saros körfezi yöresidir. Eosen yaşlı yöre oluşuklarında ölçülen stratigrafi kesitlerinden toplanan örneklerin içerdiği Nannoplanktonlarla bölgenin biyostratigrafisi ortaya konmuş ve paleocoğrafik durumu açıklanmıştır. Yaklaşık 3600 m kalınlığı olan oluşuklar çakıltaşı, kumtaşı, çamurtaşı ve kireçtaşı kaya türleri ile temsil edilir. Karaağaç limanı, Koyun limanı,Fıçıtepe,Soğucak Burgaz, Korudağ-Keşan, Kanlıbent dere formasyonlarından alınan örneklerde 77 Nannoplankton türü tanımlanmış ve bu formlar yardımıyle Discaaster tani nodifer,Discoaaster saipanensis, Istmolithus recervus, Sphenolithus pseudorodians zonları saptanmıştır. Bu zonlar ve kapsadıkları Nannoplanktonlar dünya üzerinde saptanan aynı stratigrafik düzeydeki biyozonlarla karşılaştırılmıştır.
