The Population Potential of 1935 Population Census and Bingöl

Abstract

Throughout the history, every state has seen as a need to conduct population census so as to measure its power at various periods of its existence. Because, the results acquired from these censuses constitute important data indicating the economic and the social power of the states. Having started to be implemented for the similar purposes before the declaration of the Republic, the population census became one of the most important priorities on the agenda of the Assembly after the Independence War in Turkey as well. To address the post-war economic, social and military issues, the new-born Republic needed to determine its population and as a result ran its first population census in 1927. The subsequent general population censuses after the second one in 1935 have been carried out every five years ending with ‘0’ and ‘5’.

1935 Nüfus Sayımı ve Bingöl’ün Nüfus Potansiyeli

Abstract

Tarih boyunca varlığını sürdürmüş olan her devlet, mevcudiyetinin çeşitli dönemlerinde sahip oldukları gücü tespit edebilmek amacıyla nüfus sayımı yapma ihtiyacını hissetmiştir. Çünkü bu sayımlardan elde edilen netice, devletlerin gerek ekonomik gerekse de sosyal gücünü ifade eden önemli bir veri olma niteliğine sahiptir. Türkiye’de de Cumhuriyet'in ilanından önce benzer amaçlarla uygulanmaya başlanan nüfus sayımları, Kurtuluş Savaşı sonrasında meclisin gündemindeki en önemli konulardan bir tanesi olmuştur. Savaş sonrasında ekonomik sosyal ve askeri sorunlara eğilebilmek için Türkiye nüfusunun tespit edilmesi Cumhuriyet döneminin ilk nüfus sayımı ihtiyacını ortaya çıkarmıştır. Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devleti’nde ilk yapılan 1927 Genel Nüfus Sayımı ile birlikte 1935 yılından sonra nüfus sayımları sonu ‘0’ ve ‘5’ ile biten yıllarda uygulanarak her beş yılda bir tekrarlanmıştır.
