Who Shows Better Empathy? - A Micro Research over the Empathy

Abstract

How would it be possible to put on partially sighted people’s shoes if it was requested from healthy people? Or would our gender, success, income, reading rate or divorce make showing empathy easier or difficult? This study having been conducted with sociology students at Batman university has investigated the answers of these questions. The results have shown that the level of empathy is changed according to people’s sociological situation rather than psychological situation. In other words, the ability to establish empathy is affected by sociological reasons and it is mostly changed due to them.

Kim Daha İyi Empati Kuruyor -Empati Üzerine Mikro Bir Sosyolojik Araştırma-

Abstract

Acaba sağlıklı insanlardan kendilerini görme engelli birinin yerine koymaları istenseydi bunu başarmak ne ölçüde olanaklı olurdu? Cinsiyetimiz, başarı durumumuz, gelir düzeyimiz, kitap okuma oranımız yada boşanmalar empati kurmamızı kolaylaştırıcı yada zorlaştırıcı olur muydu? Batman Üniversitesi sosyoloji bölümünde okuyan öğrencilerle yapılan araştırmada bu soruların cevapları aranmıştır. Sonuçlara göre, empati kurma düzeyimiz, genellikle psikolojik değil sosyolojik durumumuza göre değişebiliyor. Bir başka ifadeyle, empati kurma becerimiz sosyolojik nedenlerden etkilenmekte, çoğu kez onlara bağlı değişmektedir.
