Yayınlandı, Yok Olmadı, Ama Etkisi Ne? Türk Kütüphaneciliği Dergisi'nin Araştırma Etkisinin Atıflar Yoluyla Ölçülmesi

Abstract

Published, Not Perished, But What is the Impact? Measuring the Research Impact of Turkish Librarianship Journal Through Citations

Year 2023, Volume: 6 Issue: 2, 217 - 230, 31.12.2023

Abstract

Citation analysis is a widely used method for assessing the impact of scientific research. This method uses metrics such as h-index and journal impact factor to gain insight into measuring scholarly impact, identifying intellectual relationships, mapping scholarly communication, and defining knowledge domains by leveraging big data analytics. This study analyzed the impact of the Turkish Librarianship Journal publications indexed in TRDizin on research. Time-to-first citation and interdisciplinary dissemination were selected as the analysis criteria. Of the 816 studies published in TRDizin between 2002 and 2022, 292 were included in analysis. The findings revealed that only a quarter of the indexed publications received citations, and 59% came from fields other than library and information science. It is found that the Turkish Librarianship Journal is a crucial national knowledge exporter, especially at the intersection of education and library and information science studies, drawing significant interest from inside and outside the discipline. These results indicate the potential of the Journal of Turkish Librarianship as a net exporter of knowledge to contribute to other research disciplines on a national scale.
