Toksik Ebeveynlik Davranışlarının Ergenlerde Bireyleşme Üzerindeki Çıktıları: Bir Derleme Çalışması

Abstract

Bu derleme çalışması toksik ebeveynlik tutumlarının ergenlerin bireyleşme süreci üzerindeki etkilerini/sonuçlarını incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Toksik ebeveynlik; ebeveynin veya bakım verenin çocuğa karşı tekrarlayan biçimde sergilediği; duygusal/psikolojik zarar veren, sınırları ve özerkliği sürekli ihlal eden; güven, öz-değer ve duygusal düzenlemeyi bozacak türde davranış örüntüleri olarak ele alınmaktadır. Bu kapsamda duygusal istismar (utanma, aşağılama), sürekli kontrol/ mikro-yönetim, duygusal ihmal, suçluluk/utançla manipülasyon, rol tersine çevirme (çocuğu duygusal destekleyici yerine koyma), gaslighting (manipülasyon) ve tehdit/uzaklaştırma girişimleri ele alınmaktadır. Toksik ebeveynlik bireylerin duygusal, bilişsel ve sosyal gelişim süreçlerinde çeşitli sorunlara yol açmakta ve özellikle bireyleşme süreçlerini önemli ölçüde tehdit etmektedir. Bu çalışmada sistematik derleme yöntemi benimsenmiş, Google Akademik, YÖK Tez Tarama Merkezi, Scopus ve WoS veri tabanlarında taranan/yer alan ve dahil etme kriterlerini karşılayan beş makale analiz edilmiştir. Dahil edilen araştırmaların bulguları, toksik ebeveynlik ile ergenlerin zorbalık davranışları, sosyal kaygı düzeyleri, özgüvenleri, duygusal tepkileri ve akademik başarıları arasında, bireyleşme süreciyle ilişkili anlamlı bağlantılar bulunduğunu göstermektedir. Çalışma toksik ebeveynliğin ergen gelişimi üzerindeki uzun süreli sonuçlarını vurgulayarak, psikoeğitim programları, okul temelli danışmanlık hizmetleri ve sosyal politikalarının geliştirilmesine yönelik öneriler sunmaktadır.

The Outcomes of Toxic Parenting on the Integration of Adolescents: A Review Study

Abstract

This review aims to examine the effects/consequences of toxic parenting attitudes on the individuation process of adolescents. Toxic parenting is defined as behavioral patterns exhibited repeatedly by a parent or caregiver towards a child that cause emotional/psychological harm, constantly violate boundaries and autonomy, and disrupt trust, self-esteem, and emotional regulation. This includes emotional abuse (shame, humiliation), constant control/micromanagement, emotional neglect, manipulation through guilt/shame, role reversal (placing the child in the place of the emotional supporter), gaslighting (manipulation), and threats/expulsion attempts. Toxic parenting leads to various problems in individuals' emotional, cognitive, and social development processes and significantly threatens their individuation processes. In this study, systematic review method was adopted, five articles that were scanned/ included in Google Scholar, YÖK Thesis Review Center, Scopus, and WoS databases that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed. The findings of the included studies show significant links between toxic parenting and adolescents' bullying behaviors, levels of social anxiety, self-esteem, emotional responses, and academic achievement, all related to the individuation process. The study highlights the long-term consequences of toxic parenting on adolescent development and offers recommendations for developing psychoeducational programs, school-based counseling services, and social policies.
