Dünyazatname: John Barth'ın Anlatı Irmaklarında Bir Gezinti

Abstract

John Barth’ın anlatılarında sözlü geleneğe dayanan öyküleme geleneği belirleyici bir rol oynar. Bu yüzden Barth’ın kurgusu postmodernizmin geleneği kullanıp suistimal etmesi ve istikrarsızlaştırmasıyla örtüşür. Öykü döngüsüne ve çerçeve hikâyeye dayalı çokkatlı anlatılar sunan Barth, kendi kurgusunda hem metinsel bir uzam hem biçimsel bir araç olarak Somadeva’nın Kathasaritsagara’sının (Öykü Irmaklarının Okyanusu) ve özellikle Binbir Gece öykülerinin döngüsel çerçevesini kullanır. Bu çalışma, Masal Masal İçinde: Khimaira’da yer alan üç mitolojik öyküden biri olan “Dünyazatname”de, Barth’ın mit-gerçeklik- çağdaş dünya arasında kurduğu girift ilişkiye odaklanır
