Abstract

The purpose is to introduce the methodology of gender attitude scales that are adopted to Turkish, and to determine the relationship between the scale results and some sociodemographic characteristics. It is a cross-sectional study carried out on 986 people over the age of 18 that are selected by cluster sampling method in the Manisa city center. Beside obtaining basic socio-demographic information, quality of life scale and gender attitudes scales are applied. The research data was obtained by face to face interviews in April and May of 2014. Approximately the half of the participants are male, the average age is 40.5±15.4, 37.8% are primary school graduates, 75.9% are married and 40.5% has a job that they regularly work. There is a significantly relationship between the most of the scales which evaluates gender attitudes and education, having a job and age (p< 0.05). Gender attitude scales that are adopted to Turkish are determined to be sensitive to the sociodemographic variables.

Manisa Kent Merkezinde Yaşayan Yetişkinlerde Toplumsal Cinsiyet Tutumunun Değerlendirilmesi: Yöntem ve Temel Bulgular

Abstract

Bu çalışma, “Değişim için İletişim” (C-Change) Projesi kapsamında derlenen ve Türkçe’ye uyarlanan toplumsal cinsiyet tutumu ölçeklerinin metodolojisini tanıtmayı, ölçeklerden elde edilen sonuçların bazı sosyodemografik özellikler ile olan ilişkisini betimlemeyi amaçlamaktadır.Araştırma Manisa kent merkezinde küme örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilen 18 yaş üzeri 986 kişi üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiş kesitsel bir çalışmadır. Temel sosyodemografik bilgileri alınan katılımcılara kısa yaşam kalitesi ölçeği ve toplumsal cinsiyet tutumunu değerlendiren ölçekler uygulanmıştır. Araştırmanın verisi 2014 yılının Nisan ve Mayıs aylarında yüzyüze görüşmeler yolu ile elde edilmiştir.Araştırmaya katılanların yaklaşık yarısını oluşturan erkeklerin yaş ortalaması 40.5±15.4’tür; %37.8’i ilkokul mezunu, %75.9’u evli ve %40.5’inin düzenli olarak çalıştıkları bir işi bulunmaktadır. Toplumsal cinsiyet tutumunu değerlendiren ölçeklerin iç tutarlılık katsayılarının önerilen değer olan 0.7 civarından ve/veya üzerinde olduğu belirlenmiştir.Toplumsal cinsiyet tutumunu değerlendiren ölçeklerin büyük çoğunluğunun eğitim, çalışma durumu, yaş ve yaşam kalitesi ile anlamlı düzeyde ilişkili olduğu tespit edilmiştir (p
