AI AND THE FUTURE OF LANGUAGE LEARNING

Year 2026, Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 1 - 10, 28.01.2026

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has brought significant transformations to the field of foreign language teaching in contemporary education. This study explores how the integration of AI into language instruction influences teacher roles, learner autonomy, and pedagogical design. Utilizing a qualitative document analysis of studies published between 2018 and 2025, the research synthesizes thematic findings on instructional innovation, feedback mechanisms, teacher readiness, and ethical considerations. Results show that AI-supported learning environments enhance student motivation, engagement, and personalized learning opportunities. However, the effective use of AI depends largely on teachers’ digital literacy, ethical awareness, and institutional support structures. The study concludes with recommendations for ethical data use, sustainable AI integration, and professional development frameworks.

Ethical Statement

This study does not require ethics committee approval because it is based solely on document analysis and does not involve human participants or personal data.

Supporting Institution

This research received no specific grant from any funding agency or institution.
