Ceride: Journal of Ego-Document Studies is the first journal dedicated to the study of ego-documents in the world. The journal aims to contribute to the scientific community by publishing original, pioneering, and superior-quality studies in accordance with international publishing standards. Ceride is a journal of historical studies and primarily publishes articles written from a historical perspective; however, it embraces an interdisciplinary approach and encourages different views of social sciences and humanities to ego-documents.
The journal welcomes original articles on ego-documents written in Turkish and English, regardless of the historical period or geographical boundaries. Ceride is an international peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research and translated articles and original document publications, research notes, book reviews, and meeting reports. The journal is published twice a year, in June and December.

Ceride aims to contribute to the development of the scientific and intellectual horizon of the larger society by adopting the open access policy as an ethical principle.
Ceride is sponsored by İstanbul Medeniyet Üniversitesi Bilimsel Araştırma Projeleri Koordinasyon Birimi in the scope of the project coded S-KDT-2023-1844.

Ceride is a journal dedicated to ego-documents produced in every period of history and every cultural/geographical region of the world. The scope of the journal consists of those sources referred to as “ego-documents” or “self-narratives” in English (as “ben-anlatıları,” “özyaşamsal öyküler” ve “birinci ağızdan anlatılar” in Turkish ) such as diary, memoir, autobiography, and private letters. Original research articles, translated articles, document publications, research notes, book reviews, and meeting reports on ego-documents are evaluated and published in accordance with international publishing standards.

The abundance of misspellings indicates the lack of scientific requirements, which is sufficient grounds for the editor’s rejection of the article. The current spelling guide of the Turkish Language Association is considered the primary reference for Turkish language writing rules.

The Chicago Manual of Style is accepted as the basis for giving references. Authors are expected to submit their articles with a line spacing of 1.5, using 12-point Times New Roman, and in .doc format as a Word document.

Each article should include a Turkish and an English abstract at the beginning, each consisting of approximately 200-250 words. 5 to 7 keywords should be specified for each Turkish and English abstract.

Research articles, excluding notes and references, are expected to be no longer than 10.000 words. In cases exceeding this word limit, the editor should be informed.

For book and article reviews, excluding notes, the expected word limit is 4.000 words.

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
Ceride adheres to the highest international standards in publication ethics and adopts the ethical publishing principles of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA) and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). Ceride fully accepts its ethical responsibilities in the publication process, is committed to applying publication ethics standards and expects all parties involved in the publication process to act in accordance with these standards. See relevant ethical publishing principles; https://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines-new/principles-transparency-and-best-practice-scholarly-publishing
Authors are responsible for the scientific and ethical compliance of their articles. Plagiarism, duplication, false authorship/denied authorship, research/data fabrication, article slicing, publication by slicing, copyright infringement and concealment of conflict of interest are considered unethical behaviors. Any article found not to comply with accepted standards will be removed from publication, including those which have already been published.
