The reasons why candidate students do not register to the departments they've preferred and reconstruction: Pamukkale University Survey

Abstract

The theoric frame may be analysed in terms of two main subjects regarding reconstruction of universities. The first is the bases which masters starting the higher education programs and the second is the capability of responding to the differentiation of requirements and changes in business. Namely, the topic is not only related to the planning and improvement of education and teaching programs, but also the proficiency of the students\' skills attending these programs. This study aims to examine reconstruction of the programs of Turkish universities which have quota gap at the associate and bachelors degree by focusing on the reasons why students have not registered to these programs although they have preferred these programs before. In this inquiry, the findings of the research including 1657 candidate students who didn\'t register in 2009 and 2010 to associate and bachelors degree programs of Pamukkale University have been taken into consideration. The findings of the study conducted by interviewing by telephone displays why specifically some programs have not been registered at Pamukkale University. The most important reasons are economic reasons, the deficiency of income, the deficiency of the program giving the opportunities of supplying employment after graduation, and attaining a military or police school which provide the guarantee of employment and which can be attended with the support of public or getting prepared to attain such schools and family problems. Some suggestions regarding the reconstruction of providing employment have been developed with the help of the research findings.

Öğrenci Adaylarının Tercih Ettikleri Programlara Kayıt Yaptırmama Nedenleri ve Yeniden Yapılandırma: Pamukkale Üniversitesi Araştırması

Abstract

Üniversitelerin (yeniden) yapılandırılmasına ilişkin teorik çerçeve iki temel konu etrafında çözümlenebilir. Bunlardan birincisi, yüksek öğretim programlarının açılmasına hâkim olan esaslar, ikincisi ise iş dünyasındaki değişim ve talep farklılaşmalarına cevap verme yeteneği şeklinde isimlendirilebilir. Başka bir deyişle, meselenin eğitim öğretim programlarının planlanması ve geliştirilmesi boyutunun yanı sıra söz konusu programlarda öğrenim gören öğrencilerin vasıf düzeylerinin yeterliliği boyutu olduğu göz ardı edilmemelidir. Bu çalışma, Türk üniversitelerinin kontenjan açığı bulunan önlisans ve lisans programlarının yeniden yapılandırılması konusunu, bu programları tercih etiği halde kayıt yaptırmayan öğrencilerin kayıt yaptırmama sebepleri üzerinden sorgulamayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu sorgulamada Pamukkale Üniversitesi’nin çeşitli önlisans ve lisans programlarına 2009 ve 2010 yıllarında kayıt yaptırmayan 1657 öğrenci adayı üzerinde yapılan bir araştırmanın bulguları temel alınmıştır. Telefonla anket yöntemiyle gerçekleştirilen araştırmanın bulguları, Pamukkale Üniversitesi özelinde hangi programlara ne sebeple kayıt yaptırılmadığını ortaya koymaktadır. En önemli kayıt yaptırmama nedenleri, ekonomik nedenler, gelir durumu yetersizliği, kazanılan programın mezuniyet sonrası istihdam imkânlarının yetersizliği, bu nedene bağlı olarak kamusal destekle okunabilen ve istihdam garantili meslekler olan polis okulu, askeri okul vb. gibi okulların kazanılması ya da bu okulların sınavlarına hazırlanılması, ailevi sorunlar şeklinde bulgulanmıştır. Araştırmanın bulgularından hareketle istihdam edilebilirlik konusunda yeniden yapılandırmaya ilişkin öneriler geliştirilmiştir.
