State of Poverty of Urban Women Workers in Textile Sector
Abstract
The aim of the study is to evaluate the overall profiles of employed women workers through their personal information; internal information for households, subsistence strategies, feeding habits, views of poverty, their hopes, dreams and problems within the family in their own words with the help of selected sample women workers who are employed in the textile sector in Denizli. Original aspect of the study is using method of in-depth interviews and transferring the same statements of persons. The contribution of the study is to reveal women workers struggling to cope and ways of life in poverty, based on the subjective experiences, stories, views and concerns. The most striking result of the study is that despite the efforts of women workers in working life, they are still poor, feeling poor and not showing too much deviation from the other profiles of the poor individuals who are not working. Poverty of women workers is the product of understanding of neoliberal global-market and based on the welfare work.

Tekstil Sektöründe Çalışan Kentli Kadın İşçilerin Yoksulluk Halleri
Abstract
Çalışmanın amacı; Denizli’de, seçilen bir örneklem yardımıyla tekstil sektöründe istihdam edilen kadın işçilerin; hane içi bilgilerini, geçinme stratejilerini, beslenme alışkanlıklarını, yoksulluğa bakışlarını, umutlarını, hayallerini ve aile içinde yaşadıkları problemleri kendi ifadeleri ile ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmanın özgün yönü, kayıtlı işgücüne dâhil olan sigortalı çalışan, asgari ücret alan kadın işçilerin yoksulluğu üzerine olmasıdır. Çalışmanın alana getirdiği katkı; öznel yaşantılar, hikâyeler, görüş ve kaygılardan yola çıkarak kadın işçilerin yoksulluğu yaşama biçimleri, başa çıkma mücadelelerini ortaya koymasıdır. Çalışmada en çarpıcı sonuç bu kadın işçilerin çalışmalarına rağmen hala yoksul olmaları, yoksul hissetmeleri ve diğer çalışmayan yoksulların görünümlerinden fazlaca sapma göstermemeleridir. Kadın işçilerin yoksulluğu yeni liberal, küresel, piyasacı anlayış ve çalışma refahına dayanan bir yönelişin ürünüdür.
