Plagiarism Policy

Cerasus Journal of Medicine (CJM) is committed to ensuring the originality, accuracy, and ethical integrity of all submitted manuscripts. To uphold high publication standards, every submission is subjected to a similarity check using iThenticate or similar tools.

Similarity Thresholds

The overall similarity index must not exceed 20%, excluding the reference list.
No single source may account for more than 3% similarity.
Any unjustified overlap may be evaluated as plagiarism or self-plagiarism.
Manuscripts exceeding these limits may be returned to the authors for correction or rejected, depending on the extent and nature of the overlap.

Mandatory Upload of Similarity Report

Authors are required to upload a similarity report generated by Intihal.net or iThenticate at the time of submission. The report must:
Represent the full-text similarity analysis,
Be generated before submission,
Not contain any author-identifying information, in compliance with the double-anonymized review process,
It will be uploaded as a separate file in the submission system.

Submissions without a similarity report will not enter editorial evaluation.

Prior Publication

A manuscript that has been fully published in a journal, book, or conference proceedings is not eligible for submission.
Studies previously presented as abstracts, posters, or oral presentations may be submitted to the journal provided that the work has not been published as full text in any proceedings, includes substantial updates or expanded analyses beyond the original presentation, and the prior presentation is clearly disclosed during submission. Authors should use a statement such as:

“This study was previously presented as an abstract at [Conference Name, Year], and it has not been published as a full text elsewhere.”

Preprints

Submission of manuscripts previously posted as preprints is permitted; however, authors must disclose this at submission.
Failure to disclose prior dissemination may result in rejection or an investigation into ethical concerns.

Forms of Unacceptable Plagiarism

CJM does not tolerate any of the following:

Direct plagiarism,
Mosaic or patchwork plagiarism,
Self-plagiarism (text recycling without citation),
Duplicate publication,
Reuse of data, figures, or tables without permission,
Inadequate or misleading citation practices,
Submitting previously published work as new research.

Confirmed plagiarism leads to immediate rejection and may result in institutional notification.

Editorial Handling of Similarity Concerns
When significant similarity is detected:

Authors may be asked for clarification or revision,
Severe or unjustified overlap leads to rejection,
Post-publication discoveries are handled in accordance with COPE guidelines, which may result in corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions.

Author Responsibilities

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:

The work is original and has not been previously published,
All sources are cited accurately and transparently,
The similarity report (Intihal.net or iThenticate) is authentic and complete,
Any prior dissemination has been fully disclosed,
The manuscript adheres to the ethical standards of publishing.

Commitment to Ethical Integrity

CJM enforces a strict anti-plagiarism policy to ensure the reliability and credibility of its scholarly publications. All manuscripts are evaluated fairly and objectively in accordance with international ethical standards.
