ECONOMIC EFFECTS OF INTERNATIONAL WORKFORCE MIGRATIONS: UNEMPLOYMENT, TAX REVENUES, PRODUCTIVITY

Öz

Unemployment, high taxes, and inefficiency are among the most important economic problems in many countries because long-term unemployment lowers economic growth and causes social unrest. In the study, the effects of international workforce migration on unemployment, tax revenues, and productivity are investigated by preparing separate equations. This study aims to certain OECD countries to identify the effects of international workforce migration on unemployment, tax revenues, and productivity. The difference of the study from other studies in the literature that it examines unemployment, tax revenues, and productivity factors together concerning international workforce migration. The study hypothesizes that international workforce migration increases unemployment, productivity, and tax revenues. In the study, panel data analysis is applied as a method. The analysis covers the years 2008-2018. As a result of the analysis, it is determined that international workforce migration is increased unemployment by 0.02% while increasing productivity by 0.002%.

Uluslararası İşgücü Göçlerinin Ekonomik Etkileri: İşsizlik, Vergi Gelirleri, Verimlilik

Öz

İşsizlik, yüksek vergiler ve verimsizlik birçok ülkede görülen en önemli iktisadi sorunlardandır. Çünkü uzun süreli işsizlik ekonomik büyümeyi düşürmekte, toplumsal huzursuzluğa sebep olmaktadır. Çalışmada uluslararası işgücü göçünün işsizlik, vergi gelirleri ve verimlilik üzerindeki etkileri ayrı ayrı denklemler hazırlanarak araştırılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı bazı OECD ülkelerine yapılan uluslararası işgücü göçlerinin işsizlik, vergi gelirleri ve verimlilik üzerindeki etkilerini tespit etmektir. Çalışmanın literatürdeki diğer çalışmalardan farkı uluslararası işgücü göçüyle ilgili olarak işsizlik, vergi gelirleri ve verimlilik etkenlerini birlikte incelemesidir. Çalışmanın hipotezi uluslararası işgücü göçlerinin işsizliği, verimliliği ve vergi gelirlerini artırdığıdır. Çalışmada yöntem olarak panel veri analizi uygulanmıştır. Analiz 2008-2018 yıllarını kapsamaktadır. Analiz sonucunda araştırmaya konu olan OECD ülkelerinde uluslararası işgücü göçünün işsizliği %0,02, verimliliği ise %0,002 oranında artırdığı tespit edilmiştir.
