Kriz Zamanlarında Ücretsiz Ev İçi Emek: Değişen Ama Dönüşmeyen Eşitsizlik Örüntüleri

Abstract

Covid-19 pandemisi bireylerin sağlık ve ekonomik koşullarının yanı sıra ev içi iş yükünü ve günlük zaman kullanımını da önemli ölçüde etkilemiştir. Gerçekleştirilen bu nicel araştırmayla, pandemi koşullarında kadınlar ve erkekler arasındaki zaman kullanım farklılıkları incelenmektedir. Bulgular, artan ev içi iş yükünün kadınların uyku ve dinlenme sürelerini olumsuz etkilediğini ve toplumsal cinsiyet temelli eşitsizlikleri yeniden ürettiğini göstermektedir. Araştırma, kriz koşullarında kamusal bakım hizmetlerinin önemini vurgulayarak, bakımın toplumsal bir sorumluluk olarak ele alınmasını, ev içi emeğin eşit paylaşımını ve kadınların ücretli emek piyasasındaki konumlarını güçlendiren iş ve gelir güvencesi odaklı politikaların gerekliliğini işaret etmektedir.

Unpaid Domestic Labor in Times of Crisis: Changing But Non-Transforming Patterns of Inequality

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly affected individuals’ health and economic conditions, as well as domestic workloads and daily time use. This quantitative study examines gender differences in time use between women and men under pandemic conditions. The findings show that the increased domestic workload has negatively affected women’s sleep and rest time, thereby reproducing gender-based inequalities. The study emphasizes that the inadequacy of public care services during times of crisis exacerbates inequalities. It underscores the need to recognize care as a collective social responsibility, promote the equitable sharing of unpaid domestic labor, and implement policies focused on employment and income security that strengthen women's position in the paid labor market.
