Besides the comprehensive studies on public houses which were of the insitutions
that were serving the most effectively in the single-party period, the number of scientific
studies on public houses in rural areas is increasing every day. The questions “what did the
headquarters ask from the public houses”, “how were the expectations of the headquarters
was understood in rural areas and how they were applied” will be revealed clearly once the
investigations made are put together and investigated.
In this study, within the context of public houses in Ayvalık; which was, in a sense,
re-founded by the change of almost whole population in 1923 with the population exchange,
it will also be offered an insight to the years of Ayvalık in years between 1923-1950.
