PHOTO INTERPRETATION ASA TEACHING METHOD OF VALUES EDU CA TION
Abstract
Nowadays, coming to the middle of the first quarter of the
21th century, the flow of life is faster than ever; social, culturat
economic and technological changes affect the approaches
and the canception of the education. Frequently
revised education programmes introduce also a need of developing
new teaching methods and materials appropriate
to themselves. Meeting the qualifications of this need "photo
interpretation", as a method of values education, is one of the appropriate methods of today's constructivist education
and student-centered teaching progr amme.
Photo interpretation is a measuring and evaluating
method both theoretically and practically appropriate to the
goals of values education.
In this article it is discussed what the photo interpretation
is, its advantageous and limited aspects and how to apply.
Moreover, giving two sample applications, the phases
and characteristics are indicated.
These two sample applications were carried out by the
teachers in various branches in four different educational institutions.
Before the sample application, method related information
and materials were given to the teachers. At the
end of the sample applications, face to face interviews were
made with the applying teachers; then, the results and reviews
were produced.
