A VERROES' QUAESITUM ON ASSERTORIC (ABSOLUTE) PROPOSITIONS

Abstract

One of the most important issues of classical logic is the moda! propositions. In this article, a riview that was written by Averroes on moda! propositions is examined. This article written by Nic~olas Rescher in his book which is entitled Studies in Arabic Logic (chapter X). In the beginning of this article, author gives us the trace of Averroes' review that is where this was found, in which library and its translation into Latin. In addition to that, he has mentioned the basic moda! patterns as a preparatory chapter. Finally, Resher had translated Averroes' review from Arabic to English.

BASİT (MUTLAK) ÖNERMELER ÜZERİNE İBN RÜŞT'ÜN iNCELEMESi (QUAESITUM)'

Abstract

Klasik mantığın en önemli konularından birini modal önermeler oluşturmaktadır. Bu makalede, İbn Rüşt'ün modal önermeler üzerine kaleme aldığı bir inceleme ele alınmıştır. Bu inceleme, Nicholas Rescher tarafından yazılmış, Studies in Arabic Logic isimli kitabının onuncu bölümünü oluşturmaktadır. Yazar, makelenin girişinde, İbn Rüşt'ün bu incelemesinin nerede, yani hangi kütüphanede yer aldığı ve onun Latinceye tercüme ediliş serüveni üzerinde durmuştur. Bunun yanında o, konuya hazırlık babında en temel modal kalıplardan bahsetmiştir. Daha sonra Resher, İbn Rüşt'ün söz konusu incelemesini Arapçadan İngilizceye tercüme etmiştir.
