Fatımi-Karmati ilişkisine Dair Bazı Mülahazalar
Abstract
It is mainly based upon Ibn Khaldun views that Bahrayn Qarmatis
was acting under the control of the Fatimids. Based on the prevailin.g
conviction that the Qarmatis were faithful. to the Fatimid rule, he
seems to have interpreted the then histarical accounts in parallel to
this conviction. Whereas the explanations and additions concerning
the Fatimid-Qarmati alliance in the accounts of Ibn Khaldun are not
found in the earliest works speaking of Ismailism. Therefore, these
accounts of Ibn Khaldun should be treated cautiously. On the other
hand, a comparisian between the Fatimid and Qarmati-Ismaili system
of belief is highly important in determinirig the extent of relationship
between the two movements. Almost all Qarmati groups did not recognize
Ubayd Allah ai-Mahdi and other Fatimid calips as their own
imams. Contrary to Fatimids who argued their own imamate, Carmatis kept awaiting the Mahdiship of Muhammad b. ısmail, thus rejecting
Ubayd Allah ai-Mahdi who claimed his imamate. They alsa differed
from Fatimids with their opinion that Shairat of Islam was abrogated.
These dogmatic differences are the clear evidences showing that
Qarmatis did not act under Fatimids. Nevertheless, the religious doctrine
of both gro.ups was Ismailism. While Qarmatis kept on arguing
mainly the earlist Ismaili belief of imamate, Fatimids produced a
partly new theory of imamate.
