Kelamcılarda Bilginin Tanımı Problemi
Abstract
In the subject of defınition of knowledge it seems impossible to talk
about a unified understanding of knowlede among theologians. This is
because the defınition of knowledge was identifıed differently by
theologians who lived in different periods of time. In the attempt of
identifying what constituteş knowledge, the theologians , who are
called 'mütekaddimun', questioned whether the terms were chesen
adequately, after deliberating on the terms used in the definition of
knowledge, and then they inquired whether the defınition incorporated
God's knowledge. The theologians, who are called 'müteahhirun', were
much concerned about if the definition in questiorı was consistent in
terms of the definition theory of Aristotelian logic, in addition to
dealing · with the concerns of the earlier theologians. Due to this
concern, some of them·-niached the conclusion that the defınition of
knowledge could not be made. However, in the subject of defınition
itself, few theologians made a distinction betwee_n human and divine
knowledge. It is shown, in this study, that in the attempt of defıning
knowledge in Islamic theology, most theologians appealed to identifying what constitutes knowledge without making a distinction
between human and divine knowledge.
