Göç, Toplumsal Değişme ve Din: Avrupa'ya Göç eden Türkler Bağlamında Bir Değerlendirme
Abstract
Problems faced by Turks who migrated to Europe with regard to their
ethnic and religion and the function of religion to cope with such kind
of problems h·ave.:been a focus of sociological studies for a sometime. It is seen that Turks who migrated to Europe tend to stay there not
for temporary, as perhaps initially they intended to, but permanently.
As it can be traced in the studies conducted so far, religion and
religious. institutions generally play a uniting function. However, it is
alsa observed that this uniting function may alsa play segregating
and contradictory roles in relations with native people .
. In addition to these economic as well as socio cultural problems
which Turks living in Europe encounter they alsa have to cope with
such problems regarding to the practice of religion as the recognition
of their r~ligions by the state, lack of religious institutions and staff ·
providing religious education, allocation of the worship places or
preserving the present ones. In this study these subjects will be
discussed in the light of related literature and the observations by the
author.
