ŞEMSEDDİN SİVASİ'NiN İRŞADÜ'L-'AVAM İSİMLİ MESNEVİSİ
Abstract
Shamsuddin ai-Sivas1, the founder of the branch of Shamsiyya within the
Halwatiyya order, is one of the famous sufi poets of XVI. century. He wrote more
than 20 works in verse and prose. One of his Works in verse is his 255-verse
masnaw1 titled "lrshad ai-'Awam". This work was written against the intense
propagandas of Safawites prolonged through XVI. century in Anatolia and it criticized
false sheiks, perverted religious orders and wrong beliefs of Shiites. Although it has
no much value from the angle of literature, it is very important due to his views in the
field of religion and mysticism with respect to the Turkish culture.
