A General View on lbn ai-Cawzi's Transmating Prophetfc Traditions

Abstract

Scholars of hadith exhibited great effort to distinguish the fabricated hadiths
(al-mawdu') from the authentic ones and even they collected these intheir exclusive
manuscripts. One of the leading of these works belongs to prolifıc Muslim author lbnal
Jawzi with the title of al Mawduat (fabricated haditsh). This work has been among
the main sources for the succeeding authors in this area. However, lbn-al Jawzi has
been criticized by some scholars for the reason that he is said to be too rush to
include even some authentic hadiths into his work. Another noticeable work by ibn-al
jawzi on the same topic is titled al 'ila/.
The fact that lbn-al Jawzi did not show the same approach he showed in
these two studies, in his other works, and that he employed the hadiths that he treated as fabricated in these two work, in his subsequent studies have been
regarded as an objectionable dilemma.
In this study, the views of the prominent author, lbn-al Jawzi on hadith will be
discussed in overall on the aspects mentioned above

iBNU'L-CEVZi'NiN HADiSÇiLiGiNE GENEL BiR BAKlŞ

Abstract

Hadis bilginleri mevzu hadisleri tanıtmak için oldukça emek sarf etmişler ve
bu amaçla müstakil eserler yazmışlardır. Bu çalışmalar içinde en göze çarpanı
onlarca eser yazmış olan lbnu'I-Cevzi'nin Mevdüat'ıdır. Bu eser gördüğü ilgi nedeniyle
kendisinden sonra yazılan kitaplara kaynaklık ettiği gibi, müellifınin oldukça aceleci
davranarak mevzu olmayan hadisleri de eserine aldığı iddiasıyla da son derece
eleştiriimiş ve bu amaçla özel kitaplar yazılmıştır. ibnu'I-Cevzi'nin dikkatleri çeken
ikinci eseri de aynı paraleldeki ile/ adlı çalışmasıdır.
Ancak ibnu'I-Cevzi sadece bu iki eseriyle dikkatleri çekmemiştir. Bu
çalışmalarında sergiiemiş olduğu yaklaşımın diğer eserlerinde görülmeyişi, hatta bu
iki eserinde zikrettiği rivayetleri diğer eserlerinde kullanması bir ikilem olarak
değerlendirilmiştir.
Bu makalede haklı olarak çok büyük bir şöhret yakalamış olan ibnu'ICevzi'nin
hadisçiliği zikredilen açılardan genel hatlarıyla ele alınmaktadır.
