Abstract

Şems~ddin Sivasi 926/1520'de TokaUZile'de doğmuş, bilhassa
Menaklb-l Imam A 'zam, Menak1b-1 Çehar-yar-1 Güzin, Heşt-Behişt,
Süleyman-name, GO/şen-abad, Divan ve Mevlid adlı eserleriyle meşhur
olmuş önemli bir mutasavvıf müelliftir. Tahsilini il<ınal ettikten sonra
Istanbul'da bir müddet müderrislik yapmış, dört Osmanlı sultanının (Kanuni
Sultan Süleyman, ll. Selim, lll. Murad, lll: Mehmed) devirlerini idrak etmiş,
hepsinden de hürmet ve ilgi görmüştür. Tasavvufi yönüyle de dikkat çeken
Sivasi, Halvetiyye tarikatının Şemsiyye kolu müessisidir. 1 006/1597'de vefat
etmiş, Sivas Meydan Camif haziresine defnedilmiştir. Şairliği ve edebi kimliği
tasavvufi yönü kadar dikkat çekmemiştir. Menal<ıbnamelerde kendisine
birçok keramet isnad edilmiştir.

Abstract

Shamsaddin Sivasi, born in 926/ 1520 in Tokat/Zile, is a significant sufi who became famous for particularly his worl<s titled Menakıb-ı Imam A'zam, Menakıb-ı Cehar-yar-ı Güzin, Heşt Behişt, Suleyman-name, Gulşenabad, Divan and Mevlid. After his education, he was appointed teacher in Istanbul for some time. He lived in the reign of for Ottoman Sultans (Sulaiman, the Magnificent, Salim ll, Murad lll and Mehmed lll) and was highly regarded by all of them. He was also highly notable for his sufism as he established The Shamsiyya branch of The Halvatiyya Order. He passed away in 1 006/1597 and was laid to rest in the cemetery of Sivas Meydan Mosque. His fame in sufism surpassed his poetry. He was also attributed many miracles in epics.
