Abstract
Mining is one of the main sectors in which danger and risk factors causing occupational accidents and diseases are frequently encountered. One of the main goals of occupational health and safety is to keep employees from the risk factors that may adversely affect the health of employees in the working environment and to obstruct occupational diseases. In this work, the factors that may cause occupational diseases in the mining industry were examined. The changes in the number of mining companies, employees with in the number of occupational diseases emerged in mining and other sectors between 2010 and 2018 in Turkey were analyzed. It was determined that there was a huge difference between the number of those who caught an occupational disease reported to the Social Security Institution and the number of occupational patients expected according to the number of employees. In addition, protection policies were proposed to fight against these diseases.
