Subdural peritoneal shunt in the treatment of pediatric subdural hygroma
Abstract
Subdural hygroma are frequently seen among pediatric population but there is no agreement on their management. The present article evaluated the causes, preoperative symptoms and postoperative results of 4 patients with subdural hygroma who have been inserted subduroperitoneal shunt. All patients were boys. Bulging fontanelle, seizure and restlesness the predominant symptoms related to subdural hygroma improved in all patients. It seems that subduroperitoneal shunt is an effective method in the management of this condition in pediatric population.
